Display the Beauty of Your Heart Horse
WISCONSIN EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHER
Special is an understatement.
Your horse is more.
He holds your secrets safe, gives you confidence in the show ring, or shares beautiful trails with you.
You’ve landed at Shadow Dog Photography because when it comes to your horse, winning and performance isn’t everything. But, friendship and that connection with your horse sure is.
He’s the one who picks you up on a hard day. Gives you that nicker that lets you know you’re seen, heard, and loved.
She’s the one who keeps you honest. You’ve learned countless lessons about life and love from being with her.
That’s why capturing your one-of-a-kind horse in beautiful art you’ll treasure is important to you.
Snapshots and nuzzle-time selfies with your phone are great to have. But the problem? That’s where they stay.
Quick snapshots don’t hold a candle to custom art.
lets’ bring the beauty and personality of your equine best friend to life.
Imagine having an album of images that showcase that sweet (or spicy) personality you love so much. Art on your wall that’s a daily reminder of the special bond the two of you share.
Capturing the beauty, strength, and personality of your horse is my specialty.
That’s what is waiting for you when we work together.
Ready to get started?
Your horse will love being a star model for the day.
honest.
Never hired an equine photographer before? You’re in good company. For most clients, I’m the first equine photographer they’ve worked with.
Let me put you at ease from the get-go. I’m a horse person, too. So, yes, it’s in my wheelhouse to be intimately aware of what matters most when it comes to capturing your horse in their best light. Expression, movement, ears, emotion—I’m on it.
As for process, it’ll be a seamless experience. Here’s what you can expect.
The Planning
After you book your session, we’ll chat about your plans.
- Who will be in the photos?
- What do you love about your horses?
- How do you plan to use your images?
This is our chance to get to know one another and get your questions answered.
Plus, we’ll look at your home together and plan images for wall art that best suits your decor and wall space.
The Fun
When I arrive at your stable or farm, getting to know your horse is my first priority. Most horses are happy to show me around their field, and I’m happy to let them.
Rest assured, I won’t rush or stress a horse for a shot. If I get the feeling it isn’t working, we move on. I’ll follow your horse’s lead with what happens in the session.
Of course, you and your family are invited to get next to your model for some gorgeous shots, too.
The Unveiling
The big reveal is one of my favorite moments. We’ll meet to review your images and I’ll help you select your favorites.
This is why we create a list of images ahead of time that will fit your decor—to make your life easier during the image selection process.
When your items arrive, they get my thorough quality inspection. Then, you’ll be ready to display artwork of your horse you can enjoy every day.
“You’ve changed me forever.
And I’ll never forget you.”
~Kiera Cass
Is equine photography for you?
Could the trunk of your car double as a complete horse grooming kit?
Because that’s the first indication I’m the one for you.
But, you’ll never hear me say I’m the right photographer for everyone.
I’m definitely not.
In fact, I’m quite particular about the clients I work with. It’s so important to me that we’re on the same page. Only then can I create my very best work for you.
You and I will be a great fit if . . .
- Your horse is a member of your family (and I’ll love on him just like he’s part of my family!)
- You’re looking for a full-service experience. I’ll help you every step of the way with planning your session, what to wear, posing tips, help with image and artwork selection.
- You value quality. The artwork I offer is premium quality, the best available.
- You’re looking for someone who understands your horse. I’m calm, patient, and will give your equine best friend all the time needed to feel comfortable and relaxed!
If that sounds like you, I can’t wait to meet you and your fine-haired family.
“I can make a General in five minutes, but a good horse is hard to replace.”

Answers to Your Questions
What if my horse won't stand still?
We’ll discuss this on the planning call, but you can brush up on those groundwork skills in the days and weeks before your session.
Where do equine sessions take place?
Typically where your horse lives, or you can trailer to a nearby park or forest if you’d prefer. Equine sessions outside of 53190 may incur a travel fee. We can talk about the details of your session location on our planning call.
Should I get in the photos too? What do I wear?
Absolutely! I’d love to get some beautiful images of you and your horse together. In terms of what to wear, after booking your session, we’ll discuss all the wardrobe details in our planning call.
What time of day are sessions? Will the weather impact our session?
Outdoor sessions are typically the last couple of hours of the day, so we can take advantage of the beautiful “golden hour” when light is prettiest.
I’ll stay in close touch if there’s a potential for bad weather on your session day. If needed, we’ll reschedule for a nicer day.
How far ahead should I book my session?
My calendar fills up 6-8 weeks in advance. If you need a session sooner than that, you are always welcome to reach out as sometimes I have earlier openings if there’s been a reschedule.
How much should I plan to invest for wall art and decor?
During your planning call, I’ll answer any specific questions you have about your options, and help you decide on artwork that will shine in your home. Custom framed prints for your walls start at $975, and keepsake albums and boxes start at $2,975.
